GT Movies Store

Python, Django, SQLite

GT Movies Store is an interactive web application that allows for the browsing, reviewing, and buying of movies. The application addresses 21 distinct user stories through the following features:

Core Features

  • • An About page offering information about GT Movies Store.
  • • A Sign Up / Login system so users can register and manage accounts.
  • • A Movies page for browsing the catalog and searching for specific titles, with each movie clickable for more details and pricing.
  • • A Shopping Cart page to view added movies and save items to purchase later.
  • • An Orders page to track previous orders and view invoices.

Reviews System

  • • Users can post reviews visible to everyone.
  • • Users can edit or delete their own reviews.
  • • Users can report inappropriate or offensive reviews from others for removal.

Admin Tools

Administrators have access to an admin page for adding, editing, and removing users, movies, reviews, and orders. GT Movies Store is fully launched and accessible to anyone with a web browser and an internet connection.

Development Process

The app was built using Django's MVT (Model-View-Template) framework. I kept video recordings throughout as a logbook of project progress, and relied heavily on Django 5 for the Impatient — applying each lesson while reading, then testing and debugging the corresponding module afterward. When I ran into issues, I also checked the Ed Discussion board for my CS 2340 (Objects and Design) course to see if classmates had faced similar roadblocks.

3D Software Renderer

Python, Pygame, NumPy

Engineered a 3D graphics rendering engine from scratch without external graphics libraries.

  • • Programmed 3D-to-2D projection logic using linear algebra (matrix multiplication & vector normalization).
  • • Implemented weak perspective projection and custom linear interpolation for polygon filling.
  • • Currently optimizing render loops for solid polygon filling and flat shading.

ConnexUs

Full-stack web application connecting users across countries to practice new languages (HackGT 12).

  • • Implemented Django backend with user auth and database integration.
  • • Developed prototypes for real-time video chat using WebRTC.
  • • Collaborated with a 4-person team to ship core features in under 36 hours.
